Windward Portuguese Water Dogs, established in the late 1980's, has been home to multiple Best in Show, High in Trial, and multi-titled dogs for 20+ years. Presenting "Saila," a/k/a BPIS Ch. Patriot's Don't Frigate About Me!
Meet "Saila," who is a Liza-Orion puppy. She was born November 27, 2009, and joined the Windward crew on January 25. Saila is a gorgeous curly girl who is as sassy as she is cute. We look forward to sharing our lives with her. Saila was bred by, and is co-owned with, Kathy Maguire (watch Saila grow at www.patriotpwds/saila.html).

And when you're hot, you're hot! On October 2, 2010, Saila went BEST PUPPY IN SHOW in Monroe, Michigan!!!!!! Then, on to Fort Wayne, where she picked up a 4-point major, and then on to the regional specialty weekend in Illinois in February, where she won a 5-point major to become an AKC champion, and then followed that win up the next day by being awarded the Grand Champion Select Bitch for a 5-point major towards her Grand Championship!!! Saila is truly amazing! She is now up to seven points towards her Grand Championshp.
Unfortunately, Saila suffered a severe bout of pyometra (uterine infection), and an emergency spay had to take place. So while her conformation career has ended prematurely and she won't produce beautiful puppies, she will be out and about in working events in the upcoming years. She's too beautiful to just sit out of the show ring.
Our 'youngest,' "Rumor," a/k/a Windward's Rumors 'R Flying at Afim...
Meet Rumor! She was born on 08/14/2010 and is a granddaughter of Sterling. Rumor will be a great addition to our future, and we look forward to showing her off. Rumor is a great playmate for Saila, although living with two, 2-year old PWDs isn't for the faint of heart.
Rumor debuted a fledgling show career in Illinois in February 2011 at the ripe old age of six months and one week of age. She did well against the older pups, placing 3rd in sweepstakes and 2nd in the regular classes. Rumor will be out and about at shows in 2012 as she matures. Watch for this flashy girl in the future!
Flash: First UKC shows, Rumor kicked butt and earned a Group 2 and a Group 4! She is halfway to her UKC championship and we hope to wrap it up in the near future. Another Flash: First AKC show of 2012, WB/BOW for her first point on 4/22! Rumor's on the move!
Health stats: OptiGen Normal! Also, hip prelim xrays good and she has a current, normal CERF. Rumor will test GM1 and JDCM normal by parentage (final tests for certificate purposes after age two). Rumor is also DNA tested and microchipped.
